Baby death believed to be accidental

Officials conducted an autopsy today on a 4-month-month old baby girl who died Friday and are now considering the death to be an accident. Spokane Police Sgt. Jason Hartman said he didn’t have all the details about who was supervising the child or the manner in which the baby died. The department initially listed the death as suspicious. “We do believe it was an accidental death,” he said. Police were called to a residence in the 1500 block of East 11th Avenue after medics transported the infant to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, where the baby girl was pronounced dead. Officers executed a search warrant at the home. The mother was out of town at the time. Hartman declined to say who was supervising the child. But, no arrests have been made. “It’s still under investigation,” he said.
