EUGENE, Ore. – Three Spokane pitchers limited Eugene to two hits and Ryan Rua hit a three-run home run as the Indians beat the Emeralds 6-1 in Northwest League action Monday night.
Spokane starter C.J. Edwards (2-3) held Eugene hitless over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two. Shawn Blackwell followed with two innings of relief, allowing only Jeremy Baltz’s solo home run, and Alec Asher allowed a single over the final two innings.
The Indians (27-45 overall, 15-19 second half) scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. Christopher Garia’s bases-loaded single drove in Joe Maloney with the first run of the game, and Gabriel Roa followed with a two-run single. After Jake Skole struck out, Rua connected for his seventh home run of the season.
