EUGENE, Ore. – The Spokane Indians now have 10 reasons to dislike extra innings. Corey Adamson’s one-out RBI single to left field capped a two-run 10th inning Tuesday night as the Eugene Emeralds defeated the Spokane Indians 5-4 in Northwest League play. Spokane, which seized a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th on Royce Bolinger’s RBI double, fell to 0-10 in extra-inning games this season. Eugene starter Joseph Ross held the Indians in check for five shutout innings, striking out seven and allowing only Gabriel Roa’s one-out infield single in the first. Spokane rallied against Brandon Alger, who relieved Ross in the sixth with Eugene ahead 3-0. The Indians had three singles in the sixth off Alger, including Jake Skole’s RBI to left. Joey Gallo and Preston Beck had back-to-back, one-out singles off Alger in the seventh. Gallo scored on a throwing error by first baseman Goose Kallunki, and Beck tied the game when Christopher Garia singled to center off Tony Wieber. The Indians’ Avista Stadium was named NWL Field of the Year for the eighth consecutive year, and the 14th time in 16 seasons.
