Ike, Bradley words timely

The timing couldn’t be better, since the general elections are coming up in November, to quote two great Americans. The quotes are for the Republican and Democratic parties, and the American people.

“Should any political party attempt to abolish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. … Their number is negligible, and they are stupid.” – President Dwight Eisenhower, 1954.

“We are stumbling blindly through a spiritual darkness while toying with the precarious secrets of life and death. … The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than living.” – General Omar Bradley.
