Balanced Saxons get past Chiawana

Kaley Lenhart made three 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and Brittney Johnson had 13 points and 11 rebounds as Ferris edged Chiawana 59-55 in a nonleague basketball game Friday night at Ferris.

Michele Strauss added 11 points for the Saxons (1-0), who outscored Chiawana 15-6 in the second quarter to erase a six-point first-quarter deficit.

Delaney Hodges tallied a game-high 22 points for Chiawana.

CdA 61, Lebanon 41: Sydney Williams had 19 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals to lead the Vikings (4-1) past the Warriors at the Northwest Invite in Beaverton, Ore.

Mt. Spokane 62, East Valley 49: Dallas Flager led three players in double figures with 12 points as the Wildcats (1-0) beat the host Knights (0-1). Erin Wallman led East Valley with 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Ellensburg 61, Pullman 38: The Bulldogs jumped ahead by 19 points in the first half and eased past the Greyhounds (0-1) at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Yakima. Anna Guo tallied a team-high 11 points for Pullman.

Reardan 61, Colville 30: Kelsey Moos had 22 points and 14 rebounds as defending 2B champion Reardan (1-0) opened the season with a dominating win over visiting Colville (0-1). Chantel Heath added 11 points, eight assists and six steals and Katie Burge chipped in 10 points and 14 boards for Reardan.

Medical Lake 25, Deer Park 15: The Cardinals (1-0) held the visiting Stags (0-2) scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to the win.

Newport 45, St. George’s 20: Courtney Wiese made 5 of 9 3-pointers and finished with 23 points as the Grizzlies (2-0) beat the host Dragons (0-1).

Springdale 56, Wellpinit 50: The Chargers (1-1) forced 29 turnovers and held on to beat the host Redskins (0-1). Taylor Smith scored a game-high 20 points and Skyla Hael chipped in 12 for Springdale, which grabbed 29 offensive rebounds. Kyra Antone led Wellpinit with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Colfax 49, St. John-Endicott 20: Taylor Larson scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (1-0) past the host Eagles (0-1).

ACH 47, Davenport 30: Allison Fox had 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals to lead Almira/Coulee-Hartline (1-0) past the visiting Gorillas (0-2). Karlee Martin added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors.

Wilbur-Creston 56, Bridgeport 44: Jessica Boyer scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the second half and the Wildcats (1-0) beat the visiting Mustangs. Wilbur-Creston used a 14-0 first-half run to take control.

Oroville 49, Kettle Falls 34: The Hornets went on a 17-3 fourth-quarter run and beat the visiting Bulldogs (0-1).

Northport 37, Valley Christian 24: Marissa Gilmore had 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Panthers (1-0) beat the visiting Mustangs (0-1).

Tekoa-Oakesdale 49, Asotin 32: Kim Groom scored 16 points and Alex Overton added 12 as the Nighthawks (1-0) used a dominating second quarter to gain control in a win over the visiting Panthers.

Rosalia 41, Liberty 30: Mackenzie Reddish scored a game-high 18 points as the Spartans (1-0) took control early and beat the host Lancers (0-1). Freshman Maggie Nelson scored 12 points for Liberty.

Republic 53, Odessa-Harrington 25: The Tigers (1-0) opened up a 23-point first-half lead and cruised past the host Titans (0-1).
