SCRAPS plans fundraisers, adoption events this month
The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is offering special adoption prices this month and will attend a host of special events in an effort to empty the shelter.
During December people can adopt cats for $15 and dogs for $25 – the cost of a license. Each pet will also get vaccinations, a veterinarian check, a microchip and will be spayed or neutered.
There will be numerous opportunities for pet owners to get a picture of their pet with Santa with SCRAPS receiving a portion of the proceeds. Santa will be available at Petco at Sprague Avenue and Sullivan Road …

There will be numerous opportunities for pet owners to get a picture of their pet with Santa with SCRAPS receiving a portion of the proceeds. Santa will be available at Petco at Sprague Avenue and Sullivan Road today and Sunday, as well as Dec. 8 and Dec. 15; and at PetSmart stores Dec. 8-9.
SCRAPS volunteers will have animals available for adoption at PetSmart Dec. 7-9 and at performances of the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater at the Bing Crosby Theater in downtown Spokane at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 and at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15. People who donate dog food, cat food or cat litter will receive $2 off the show ticket price.
People who want to help the animals but can’t provide a home for one can help by shopping. The Pop-n-Corn store in the Spokane Valley Mall will be offering special bags of gourmet popcorn through Dec. 9. The proceeds will be donated to SCRAPS. You Dirty Dog, at 11128 E. Sprague Ave., will offer 10 percent off all grooming through Dec. 15 with the proceeds going to SCRAPS.
Finally, SCRAPS will host its annual Happy “Howl-i-day” Party and open house on Dec. 15 at the shelter, located at 2521 N. Flora Road. There will be cookies and hot chocolate for those interested in taking a tour of the shelter. Santa will stop by at 2 p.m. with special treats for the animals.
