Camacho laid to rest in New York

Hundreds cheered and shouted “Macho” when Hector Camacho’s coffin was carried out and loaded into a hearse after his New York City funeral. On Saturday, about 300 people mourned in St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, the stately East Harlem church that the former world champion boxer attended as a boy. Camacho was fatally wounded in a Nov. 20 shooting in Puerto Rico. He was 50. Police continue to investigate. The Rev. Frank Skelly remembered Camacho as a child and said that’s how God knows him. Camacho was to be buried after the service at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx. – Associated Press
