In brief: San Antonio trails late, but tops Memphis in OT

NBA: Tony Parker scored 30 points, Tim Duncan had 27 points and 15 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs beat the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 99-95 in overtime Saturday night.

Marc Gasol led Memphis with 20 points. Zach Randolph had 17 points and 15 rebounds and was one of three Memphis players with double-doubles.

Manu Ginobili forced overtime with a corner 3-pointer with 57.9 seconds left, tying the game just nine minutes after Memphis led by 14 in the fourth quarter.

• Wade carries Heat: Dwyane Wade scored a season-high 34 points, LeBron James added 21 points and the Miami Heat rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat the visiting Brooklyn Nets 102-89.

Ray Allen scored 13 and Norris Cole finished with 12 for the Heat.

• Batum’s 3-pointer lifts Blazers in double OT: Nicolas Batum’s 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left in the second overtime gave the visiting Portland Trail Blazers a 118-117 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Trailing 117-115 with 2.5 seconds remaining, Portland called timeout and inbounded near midcourt. Damian Lillard passed to Batum, who hit a fadeaway jumper from the right corner in front of Cleveland’s bench.

• Thunder blow past Hornets: Kevin Durant scored 20 points, Russell Westbrook added 18 points and 10 assists, and the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder won their fifth straight game, 100-79 over New Orleans Hornets.

Ryan Anderson had 21 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans.

Baylor breaks No. 8 Kentucky’s streak

Men’s Basketball: Kentucky’s 54-game winning streak at Rupp Arena came to an end when the No. 8 Wildcats were upset by Baylor 64-55 in Lexingotn, Ky.

Pierre Jackson scored 17 points and Isaiah Austin and A.J. Walton each added 11 for the Bears (5-2). Brady Heslip and Cory Jefferson each added 10 points and Baylor beat the Wildcats for the first time in eight tries.

Baylor shot just 41 percent for the game but held Kentucky (4-3) to 21 of 71 from the floor.

• Michigan survives Bradley: Freshman Nik Stauskas scored 22 points in his first start and No. 3 Michigan survived a late run to beat Bradley 74-66 in Peoria, Ill.

Stauskas started for Matt Vogrich and delivered early with eight first-half points to help the Wolverines (7-0) hold onto a narrow halftime lead, 34-30.

Walt Lemon Jr. led Bradley (5-2) on a late run to close to 70-65 with half a minute to play. But the Braves were force to foul and the Wolverines held on to win.

• Louisville avoids upset: Russ Smith scored 24 points and Peyton Siva added 20, including four 3-pointers, to help No. 5 Louisville edge visiting Illinois State 69-66.

Down 3 with a chance to tie, Illinois State’s Tyler Brown airballed a 3-pointer with eight seconds left that was saved by Bryant Allen to Jackie Carmichael. Carmichael found Brown for another chance at overtime, drawing considerable contact from Louisville’s Chane Behanan as the buzzer sounded. Louisville (6-1) claimed the win with the shot awry and no foul called.

• Virginia Tech stuns Oklahoma State: Erick Green scored 28 points and hit eight critical free throws in the final 76 seconds in Blacksburg, Va., to help Virginia Tech remain unbeaten and hand No. 15 Oklahoma State its first loss, 81-71.

Robert Brown added 18 points and Jarell Eddie had 15 with 12 rebounds for the Hokies (7-0) and first-year head coach James Johnson. It’s their first 7-0 start to a season since 1982-83.

McDowell clings to lead at Sherwood

Golf: Graeme McDowell rolled in two long birdie putts early in the third round and stretched his streak to 29 holes without a bogey when he walked off the 18th green at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., with a 4-under 68 and a two-shot lead.

Tiger Woods kept himself in the game. Even though Woods failed to birdie any of the five par 5s, he picked up a pair of birdies on the final two par 3s and added a third to salvage a 69 that left him five shots behind.

Stewart serious about Indy 500

Auto Racing: If Tony Stewart wants to run the Indianapolis 500 next season, Roger Penske will give him a car.

Penske twice Friday night offered Stewart the chance to enter next year’s race and insisted he’s serious about the opportunity. Penske-owned cars have won the race 15 times, but not since Helio Castroneves’ 2009 victory.

The Indy 500 is Stewart’s favorite race, but he hasn’t entered it since 2001, when he finished sixth.

Chelsea loses as Man. United extends lead

Soccer: Chelsea’s troubles deepened when Rafa Benitez’s team lost 3-1 at West Ham in the Premier League in London. Manchester United extended its lead to three points.

United twice came from behind to win 4-3 at Reading after Manchester City had drawn 1-1 at home to Everton.

Chelsea is 10 points behind United and the European champions are without a win in seven league matches, three since Benitez replaced the fired Roberto Di Matteo as manager.

• Morgan leads US women to win over Ireland: Alex Morgan scored 44 seconds into the match and the U.S. women’s team went on to beat Ireland 2-0 in Glendale, Ariz.

Trout takes 12-round decision over Cotto

Miscellany: Austin Trout controlled the fight early and roughed up Miguel Cotto late to win a 12-round unanimous decision and retain his share of the 154-pound boxing title Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Trout (26-0) left Cotto’s battered face red and swollen after cranking up the pressure over the final two rounds to truly take control on the scorecards.

• Vonn wins downhill: Skier Lindsey Vonn raced to her 13th World Cup victory at Lake Louise, Alberta, leading another 1-2 U.S. sweep in the second downhill at the Canadian resort.

Vonn finished in 1 minute, 52.9 seconds.

• Marsaglia of Italy captures first World Cup race : Matteo Marsaglia of Italy finished in 1 minute, 14.68 seconds to edge Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway by 0.27 seconds in Beaver Creek, Colo., for his first World Cup victory.

• Game On Dude wins Native Diver Stakes: Game On Dude won the $242,500 Native Diver Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif.
