Obituary: Salo, George W.

SALO, George W. Born July 23, 1921 passed November 29, 2012.

George was born in Hinsdale, MT to William and Amanda Salo.

George attended Hinsdale High School and graduated in 1940.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944, where he served from 1944 to 1946.

After completing his service he returned to his family farm south of Hinsdale.

George then moved to Glasgow MT with wife Maxine Rennick and daughter Jeanne and started his career with Valley Motors of 25 years.

He spent several years playing saxophone in a 5 piece band up and down the Hi-Line of Montana.

He later married Margie Brown and combined their families to 9 children and settled in Medical Lake WA in 1972.

After leaving Valley Motors he worked various jobs until he finally retired in 1990.

Margie and George loved to travel and made the most of their retirement, traveling to Finland, France, Spain, Estonia, Mexico, Bahamas and Canada.

They also loved to do walks, traveling all over the state walking with other fellow walkers.

George is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margie.

His children and spouses; daughter Jeanne (Lyle); sons, Gary (Paulette), Bob (Marian) and Terry (Dianne).

Stepdaughters, Char (Rick), Dorthy (Richard), Ginger (Kurt) and Molly (Gary).

He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grand- children.

Services are pending and in lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Spokesman Review Christmas Fund.
