Obituary: Spilker, William J. “Bill”
“Bill” Passed away peacefully November 29th, 2012.
He was born to William and Sophie Spilker on August 26th, 1923 in Davenport WA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother (John “Bud” Spilker), sister (Betty Savage) and oldest son (Billy Spilker).
Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann, and their remaining children and grand- children: Joseph Spilker, wife Patti, and children Sophie, Sadie and Nathan; Walt Spilker; Michelle Shawn and sons Ben and Alex; Donald Spilker; Mary Spilker; Edward Spilker, wife Daisy, and children Geoffel and Joanna; daughter Helen Doherty, husband Patrick and daughters Emma and Sylvie.
He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Spilker, and sisters, Dolores Gardner and Patty Gardner.
Bill attended Gonzaga Preparatory and Gonzaga University and served overseas in the Air Force during World War II.
He was the epitome of the “Jack of All Trades”- he would lend a hand to fix just about anything.
He worked in construction most of his career, and took great pride in building his first house on Shady Slope Road and cabin at Priest Lake Idaho.
Bill loved flying his Cessna 120 during his younger days.
He was an optimist and never missed playing the lotto each week and even won once in a while.
Bill was a generous, quiet, humble man with a great sense of humor.
He was a kid at heart and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
A rosary service will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home on Wednesday December 5th, at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at St. Charles on December 6th, at 11:00 am.
Attendees are invited to bring a favorite picture of Bill to share with others on his picture tribute board.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s name to Hospice of Spokane or Hospice House (PO Box 2215, Spokane WA 99210).
