Multistate search for fugitive continues

Authorities still are searching for a man who allegedly kidnapped a Rathdrum woman and fired on an Idaho State Police officer over the weekend. The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Mitchell Lee Walck. The FBI’s Salt Lake City division, working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, obtained an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant for Walck, a news release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said. Walck allegedly fired at the ISP officer during a Friday night pursuit. The officer was not injured. The kidnapping victim, Susan Smith, has returned to the local area after she was dropped off in Glendive, Mont. by the fugitive. Police say she was not harmed. Walck was last seen driving Smith’s 2005 silver Subaru Forester, Idaho license plate number K230050. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office at (208) 446-1300 or 911.
