Obituary: Berry, Ellen Adeline

Age 93

BERRY, Ellen Adeline (Age 93) Ellen Adeline Berry passed away at age 93 in Spokane this Sunday morning (December 2, 2012) after fighting her way back to health many times in the last few years.

She had resided at the Riverview Retirement Community since May 2009.

Ellen was born in Spokane on February 26, 1919 and graduated from Holy Names Academy.

She was the last surviving child of immigrant parents Guiseppe and Theresa Luca and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Mack Porter Berry and her eight siblings; George, Ann, Benny, Alfonse, Laura, John, Jim and Bob.

She is survived by her two sons, William L. (Bill) Berry and John P. Berry (wife Denise); four grandchildren, Lucas, Sean, Matt, and Lauren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all living in the Spokane area.

Ellen was a military wife and mother who thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to travel the world with her family.

After Mack’s retirement in 1967 they settled in Spokane.

She loved to cook, which was obvious if you had the good fortune to enjoy one of her meals.

She enjoyed painting and her works are proudly displayed in the homes of her family members.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.

A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 302 E Boone Ave. A Memorial will be held at Riverview Terrace Chapel at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.
