Obituary: Koch, Dennis Rudolf

KOCH, Dennis Rudolf (Age 73) Of Ritzville, Washington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 1, 2012 at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital.

He was born in Spokane Washington to Rudolf and Elsie Koch, and was the oldest of three children.

Dennis graduated in 1957 from Ritzville High School.

After graduation he attended Eastern Washington College of Education and earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Education.

Upon graduation Dennis served four years in the Army as an Armor Officer stationed in Alaska and in Kentucky.

He started his professional career teaching music in Twin Falls Idaho in 1967.

Dennis returned to Ritzville in 1968, and taught music for the Ritzville School District for 30 years.

He received numerous accolades for the quality of his band and choral performances.

Music was his life; he was well versed in guitar, piano, brass and wood wind instruments.

Dennis continued performing music long after retirement, playing for different churches both in Ritzville and Hemet California where he and his wife Pam wintered.

He played piano for Sunday worship services, and performed at several weddings.

If a community activity needed music, Dennis was there lending a hand.

Dennis was able to touch so many students, bring out their talent, by his warm gentle approach to teaching.

We will miss his music, humor and his love for his dog.

Dennis is survived in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Pamela Irene Koch; his son Eric and daughter-in-law Cheryl; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his brother Michael and his wife Vickie Koch.

His parents and brother Jeffery Koch precede Dennis in death.

Danekas Funeral Home will hold a viewing of Dennis on Friday, December 7th, 2012 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

A private graveside funeral will be held the same day at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ritzville.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held this spring when his brother Michael Koch and his family will be able to attend.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville.

DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME-RITZVILLE is entrusted with arrangements.
