Obituary: Aiello, Joseph “Joe”

Age 92

AIELLO, Joseph “Joe” Joe passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 29, 2012.

Joe was born September 9, 1920 in Maione, Calabria, Province of Cosenza, Italy, the first of three children born to Giacomino and Antonetta Aiello.

Joe came to Spokane in 1937 at the age of 16.

In 1947, Joe bought an existing shoe repair store named Goodyear Shoe Repair, which he owned for 54 years.

The store today is run by his two sons John and Tony.

Joe returned to Italy in 1951 to marry Enerina Pagliuso on March 3.

They were blessed to share 62 years together.

Joe is survived by his wife Enerina Aiello of Spokane; his sons John and Anthony Aiello both of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Esterina Falsetta and Carmella Galluci.

He was a lifetime member of the American Italian Club.

Joe will fondly be remembered as a man of honor and integrity.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Johnson for the dear care of Joe these past years.

Visitation will be Friday, December 7 from 12-5pm with Vigil Rosary services beginning at 5pm, all at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10am and will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 428 W. 19th, Spokane with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
