Witherspoon honored by March of Dimes

From Wire Reports

New mom Reese Witherspoon is being honored by March of Dimes for being a model celebrity parent.

The 36-year-old Oscar winner and mother of three will receive the organization’s Grace Kelly Award at its Celebration of Babies event Friday at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The award recognizes celebrity parents committed to healthy pregnancies and families.

Witherspoon gave birth in September to a son, Tennessee, with her husband, talent agent Jim Toth. She’s also mom to Ava, 13, and Deacon, 8, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.

“I was very lucky to have a healthy delivery and leave the hospital with a healthy full term infant, but so many families in this country do not get that experience,” she said, adding that she hopes her involvement with March of Dimes calls attention to its efforts to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Fleetwood Mac reunites for tour

After three years working on their own projects, Fleetwood Mac – Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie – will reunite for a 34-city American tour, starting April 4 in Columbus, Ohio.

The tour coincides with the 35th anniversary of the band’s album “Rumours” and the 40th anniversary of the album from pre-Mac duo Buckingham Nicks. However, Nicks said Monday that it isn’t yet clear what role those anniversaries will play in the tour.

“We just want to put together the best set possible,” Nicks said from her Santa Monica, Calif., home. “We want to create the best 2 1/2-hour experience for the people.”

Nicks said the band has already recorded two new songs – “Sad Angel” and “Miss Fantasy” – that they plan to play on the tour.

The band will begin rehearsals in mid-February, though the four have already started discussions about the staging and the set list. “If we had to do a show the day after tomorrow, we could,” Nicks said. “The boys are that good. … The great thing with Fleetwood Mac is that we are a finely tuned machine.”
