Homicide victim found in West Central alley

From staff reports
A man’s body was found in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood about 9 a.m. today by a resident taking garbage into an alley. Police have labeled the death “suspicious,” said Spokane Police Sgt. Sean Nemec. The body was found in the alley near North Cannon Street and West Bridge Avenue. The man’s body was surrounded with blood from possible gun shot wounds, police said. The Major Crimes unit is investigating. Police are going door to door to talk to neighbors and look for witnesses. The 1600 block of Cannon Street and the 1900 block of Bridge Avenue are closed to traffic while police investigate the crime scene. Police have not identified the body but are circulating a mugshot of a man they’re asking the public’s assistance in determining his last known whereabouts. They believe the man lived in the neighborhood and was walking through the alley on foot. A car that police consider evidence in the crime scene was towed this morning.
