Gonzaga women host CS Fullerton

Gonzaga women’s basketball coach Kelly Graves watched the Cal State Fullerton Titans play before he really watched them play.

Graves scrutinized the Titans’ Nov. 24 game against Eastern Washington with an eye on the Eagles, since they arrived first on GU’s schedule.

After the Bulldogs (8-2) defeated Eastern 65-50 on Tuesday night, Graves went back to the video with his attention turned to Fullerton, which plays at McCarthey Athletic Center at 2 p.m. today.

The Titans (2-6) have lost five consecutive games, including a 50-45 setback against EWU at the Cal Classic in Berkeley. Three of those losses have been by five points or less.

“I know they’re athletic and they play hard and they pressure the ball,” Graves said. “They’re not as skilled as Eastern, but they’re going to be a good team.”

GU defeated the Titans 73-60 last season and 101-52 in 2010-11.

Sophomore guard Chante Miles leads Fullerton in scoring at 13.1 points per game and is the only Titan to have started every game.

Junior guard Haiden Palmer (12.7 ppg) is the only Bulldogs player scoring in double figures. GU is holding rivals to 55.5 ppg.
