David was comforted by those memories when he died November 30.
He was 58.
David grew up in the San Diego area, going to work in the fast food industry as a teenager.
It was an industry he never left.
His career included managing restaurants in Arizona, Texas and California before moving to Washington to take an ownership stake in several restaurants throughout Eastern Washington.
His management style focused on providing great customer service as well as giving employees a chance to grow and advance.
When he was not visiting his restaurants, he loved being involved in charitable endeavors of all sorts from the Salvation Army and the Miracle League to more personal acts, like leaving great tips for servers during the holidays.
He also took great pride in his grandchildren.
Many of the long drives David took between restaurants were broken up with cell phone conversations with his grandchildren.
David was willing to do anything to make those children smile, whether it was a good joke, a ride on a tractor or turning over the wheel of his boat.
His larger-than-life personality brightened lives, and it will be missed terribly.
He is survived by his father, Art; brothers, Ron and Chris; sisters, Kathy and Sherry; wife, Susan; daughters, Cheryl, Jennifer and Elizabeth; son, Jason; stepdaughter, Carianne; stepson, Jon; and thirteen grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spokane Valley.
