Obituary: Procter, Mavis Adair
Age 91
Mavis was born May 18, 1921 in Rupert, ID.
Her parents were Fred and Iva Schuepbach.
Her biological father was Josia Setters.
Mavis grew up in Rupert, ID where she was the high school drum majorette and became runner-up for the Miss Idaho contest in 1939.
Mavis attended the University of Idaho in Moscow where she met her husband of 70 years, Hank Procter.
She graduated in 1941 with a degree in home economics.
Mavis and Hank settled in Spokane, WA where Hank assumed the position of Budget Officer for Fairchild AFB.
Mavis taught home economics in most every school in Spokane.
She retired from Rogers High School after 20 years there.
She was an exemplary seamstress.
Her good taste in clothing was required by many.
Mavis was a member of Audubon Park Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Assoc., Spokane Falls Needle Works Guild and the Washington State Quilters Assoc.
She was perfectionist in all her handiwork.
The Procter family spent many vacations at their cabin by Wallowa Lake, OR.
They enjoyed boating.
Mavis and Hank loved dancing and spent many evenings with friends on the dance floor.
Mavis is survived by her husband, Hank Procter (age 92) of Riverview Terrace in Spokane; daughter, Marilyn Procter also of Riverview; son, Steve Procter and his wife Chris of Walla Walla, WA; sister, Elaine Grant of Kennewick, WA; grandson, David Procter and wife Marisa of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter, Lisa Procter Denman and husband Jason, and great-granddaughter Katie of Utica, NY.
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the chapel at Riverview Retirement Community, 1801 E. Upriver Dr. in Spokane.
