Slick conditions start the work week

As you head out on your morning commute, you may see street crews deicing and sanding Spokane’s arterials and intersections, primarily on hills. Street crews worked on the streets overnight on their winter schedules trying to improve the roadways before the morning commute, said city spokeswoman Marlene Feist in a news release. National Weather Service meteorologists expect the precipitation to decrease steadily before the end of the morning, but when you hit the road for work or other travel, expect slick conditions on side roads. Temperatures were in the high 20s at 8 a.m., but could increase to about 36 degrees later today with some cloudy weather lowering freezing fog over parts of the region with light wind. Cloud cover in the region will continue tonight with a 20 percent chance of snow. Calm winds will continue through tomorrow with a 60 percent chance of precipitation in Spokane. Less than a half inch of snow is possible on Tuesday, according to NWS meteorologists.
