Whitworth falls at E. Oregon

Jamie Lyons’ 3-pointer got Whitworth on the scoreboard first, but it was the Pirates’ only lead of the game in a 76-61 nonconference loss to Eastern Oregon on Sunday in La Grande, Ore.

The Mountaineers responded with an 8-0 run and never looked back, leading by as many as 13 points and holding Whitworth (7-2) scoreless for nearly six minutes in the second half.

Emily Guthrie led the Pirates with 10 points, while Katara Belton-Sharp added nine points and KC McConnell and Emily Travis each had eight.

Whitworth returns to action Dec. 28, when Warner Pacific visits the Whitworth Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
