Family of LA man killed in NYC release statement
NEW YORK (AP) — Family members of a man who was gunned down in a brazen ambush in midtown Manhattan are urging anyone with information on the killing to contact New York City police detectives.
Sandra and Rodney Wellington, the mother and step-father of Brandon Lincoln Woodard, released a statement Tuesday saying there were no words to express their shock and sadness.
In the statement, they called Brandon Woodard a devoted father and loving son who was a “gentle and generous young man” beloved by his family and friends.
Police say they’re still searching for the unidentified gunman who walked up behind the 31-year-old Woodard and shot him in the head. The shooter slipped into a waiting Lincoln sedan and fled.
The killing occurred on West 58th Street near the Time Warner Center.
