For the first time since the late 1990s, Fairchild Air Force Base will host Skyfest 2013 to coincide with the Lilac Festival.
Skyfest 2013 will be held the weekend of May 18 and 19, concurring with Lilac Week, a news release from the Air Force said.
In addition, the Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron, will headline the event. The Thunderbirds perform precision aerial maneuvers to demonstrate the capabilities of high-performance aircraft.
“We are excited to have Skyfest this year as the Lilac Festival celebrates 75 years of honoring the community and service members,” said Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, in a prepared statement.
