Gingerbread event a hit with small misses

Sunday I enjoyed, as always, the gingerbread creations at the Davenport Hotel; and my first comment is to give the Davenport a big bunch of lilacs for providing the space for the event.

Secondly, I would also give lots of lilacs to the numerous, talented, crafty people who worked so hard to make these fabulous displays and lilacs also to everyone who helped with the event.

Some lemons though for a couple of things. It really is a shame that there were only five creations offered. I have been going since the gingerbread showcase began and there used to be more.

Also, the plan of having a huge crowd of interested and excited people going through to see the gingerbread and then going out the same way did not work out well. It was just too jampacked, especially for children and short people to be able to enjoy the truly creative structures.

The wonderful opportunity for children to make their own gingerbread houses was such special fun for the children, and very well-handled. They will remember it for many years, as will their families.

Please, whoever is in charge of the gingerbread festival, keep it going and make it even better every year.  It’s a truly wonderful Christmas tradition for our Spokane area.
