Obituary: Winn, Gerald P.

WINN, Gerald P. (Age 79) Passed away December 10, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

He was born September 13, 1933 at Oakesdale, WA to Lawrence and Selma (Robinson) Winn.

He attended Oakesdale schools, graduating in 1951.

Gerald attended one year at Washington State University in Pullman, and later attended Kinman Business University in Spokane.

Gerald served in the United States Army following the Korean War.

He was discharged in May of 1955 as a Private First Class.

Gerald married Colleen Sauer Watson on September 22, 1973 in Tekoa, WA.

The couple has made their home in Tekoa since.

Mr. Winn worked as a bookkeeper for Gardner and Smith Fertilizer Company for 25 years.

He later worked as a self-employed life insurance salesman.

Gerald served on the Tekoa City Council for 12 years.

He was active in the Oakesdale Jaycee Club and the State Jaycee Club working with the Junior Miss Program.

He was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Oakesdale.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen at the Tekoa home; their children; Jennifer Winn of Portland, OR, Michael (Amy) Watson of Oak Harbor, WA, Steven (Nancy) Watson of Cheney, WA, Mark (Mary) Watson of Bellingham, WA, and Matthew (Jean) Watson of Oakesdale, WA; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Winn of Spokane, WA; a sister, Judith Winn of Oakesdale, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parent and sister, Karen Enzler.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tekoa, WA.

Father Mike Savelesky will officiate at the service and burial will follow at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.

Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa, WA is handling the arrangements.
