Driver arrested for hit and run, vehicular homicide

Authorities with the Washington State Patrol have apprehended a driver suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian tonight after fleeing a separate collision. The unidentified driver first hit a vehicle on Interstate 90 near Freya Street and fled, according to WSP Trooper Troy Briggs. The driver then struck and killed a pedestrian about 6:03 p.m. on westbound I-90 near exit 277 west of downtown Spokane. The pedestrian was outside of a vehicle that also had been involved in a collision. Emergency responders attempted CPR, but the unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is in custody on suspicion of hit-and-run and vehicular homicide. Troopers are investigating. It is unclear whether anyone else was injured or whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
