A Pyrrhic victory
Since the election, there has been a flood of opinions expressed in The Spokesman-Review proclaiming the conservative movement has experienced its Waterloo and there will be much rejoicing. Well, you might want to release your pigeons quickly as the party may not last long.
According to dailyjobcuts.com, since Nov. 6 there have been 100,000-plus U.S. workers laid off and 125 businesses shutting down or closing locations because of Obamacare. This doesn’t include the huge number of positions being reduced from full time to part time to escape the costs. It’s also just the beginning as the Republicans will cave in on raising taxes, shuttering even more businesses.
Another point to ponder is, according to CNSNews.com, the Obama administration has posted 6,125 regulations on its regulations.gov website during the past 90 days. How can any company comply with this kind of regulation avalanche and stay competitive? Whatever pretend recovery there has been will not cover these job losses.
Whether the reader wants to think these job losses are due to evil capitalist owners or not, Obama’s “victory” may well be a Pyrrhic victory for our nation.
