CCS men, women lose in tourneys
Community Colleges of Spokane stormed back in the second half before falling flat in overtime in an 82-73 loss to Whatcom in the first round of the Bellevue Crossover men’s basketball tournament Friday in Bellevue.
The Sasquatch fell behind 37-24 in the first half, but outscored the Orcas 46-33 in the second half to send the game into overtime.
CCS made 1 of 10 shots in overtime, including 1 of 4 free throws.
Brady Bagby scored 22 points and Kwinn Hanson added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Sasquatch (6-4). The Orcas (5-3) were led by Zach Stalin’s 25 points and 14 rebounds.
Women
Jasmine Yarde and Taylor Larson scored 15 points apiece and Peninsula (4-4) edged Community Colleges of Spokane 68-66 in overtime at the Lane Crossover tournament in Eugene.
Rylie Holsinger had 17 points and nine rebounds and Breeana Wilson added 12 points and 10 boards for the Sasquatch (3-4), who will play South Puget Sound today.
