Rita is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Morrison Sr., her daughter Tina (Lloyd) Bondy, her son John (Jill) Morrison Jr., her daughter Sarah Morrison, and her three grandchildren Joe Morrison, Megan Bondy and Madeline Bondy.
She is also survived by her three sisters Ellen Green, Julia (Art) Aylsworth and Carolee (Paul) Ratzlaff, brother Jesse (Vanda), sister-in-laws Sue Bryant, Dorothy Morrison and Lynn (Mitch) Rogers, and their families as well as many treasured aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born in La Grande, Oregon to Gifford Scott and Betty Jane Hulse on June 12, 1946, she spent her first 18 years in Elgin, OR.
After graduating from Elgin High School, Rita moved to Spokane to take classes at Kinman Business University.
While in Spokane, she met and married John.
They raised their family in Spokane, and then Rita went to work at Gonzaga University.
She spent 18 years counseling students on their education finances.
She had a lasting effect on many college and graduate students.
In her free time, she was known for her sweet treats.
Baked goods and hand-made chocolates were two of her specialties.
Every year at Christmastime friends and family would eagerly anticipate the box of chocolates which included some of her tastiest creations.
She loved to spend time with friends and family and really treasured the times that she got to spend with her grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church at 1pm on Saturday, December 22, 2012.
