Vikings take early lead, beat Shadle

Coeur d’Alene took advantage of a poor-shooting Shadle Park squad and beat the Highlanders 59-41 in a nonleague girls basketball game Saturday at Shadle Park.

The Vikings gained control by outscoring Shadle Park 21-4 in the opening quarter.

Shalise Hicks scored 10 points and Kaycee Hert added six points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists for Coeur d’Alene (7-3).

Caelyn Orlandi had 14 points and Sydney Williams added 10 for Shadle Park (3-2).

East Valley 57, Sandpoint 18: Erin Wallman made 11 of 16 shots and finished with 26 points and four steals as the Knights (4-2) routed the visiting Bulldogs (6-6). East Valley outscored Sandpoint 20-9 in the first quarter and led 32-12 at halftime.

Colville 45, Chewelah 34: The Indians’ full-court pressure defense caused problems for the Cougars (3-2) late and host Colville (3-3) came away with the win.

Chewelah trailed by two after three quarters, but was held scoreless in the fourth. Taryn Main and McKenna Cabbage scored 12 points apiece for the Indians. The Cougars were led by Brittney Wuesthoff’s 12 points.

Lakeside (WA) 55, Deer Park 20: Ashley Cook-Cox scored 22 points and the Eagles (4-2) ran past the visiting Stags (0-8). Lakeside outscored Deer Park 12-4 in the first quarter and led 31-12 at the half.

Timberlake 59, St. Maries 27: The Tigers (2-5) dominated the second half after a back-and-forth first half and beat the Lumberjacks (2-5) at Spirit Lake. Jessica Norlander scored 14 points and Cheyenne Gibson added 10 for Timberlake, which outscored St. Maries 34-7 in the second half to break a halftime tie.

Kerstin Auer and Lakin Anxo scored eight points apiece for the Lumberjacks.

Lakeside (ID) 48, Deary 38: Avery Brown-Sonder scored 12 points and the Knights (7-2) pulled away in the second half to beat visiting Deary. Lakeside outscored Deary 18-3 in the third quarter to erase a five-point halftime deficit.

Cusick 51, Odessa-Harrington 30: Lauren Nelson scored 13 points, Caytlin Nenema had 11 and Chelsea Samuels added 10 as the Panthers (6-0) topped the visiting Titans (2-4).

Chelsea Fisher tallied a team-high nine points for Odessa-Harrington, which fell behind 19-3 in the first quarter.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 60, St. Michael’s 29: Lexi Turkenburg and Anna Verhaeghe scored 18 points apiece as the Panthers (8-1) routed the visiting Warriors (0-5). Coeur d’Alene Charter outscored St. Michael’s 20-4 in the opening quarter to gain control. Macaela Shelley scored 12 points for St. Michael’s.

Northeast A

Newport 68, Kettle Falls 30: Courtney Wiese scored 11 of her game-high 23 points in the first quarter as the Grizzlies (4-2, 2-0) routed the visiting Bulldogs (3-4, 0-2). Wise made three 3-pointers in the first quarter. Ari Newcomb added nine points and eight rebounds for Newport.

Northeast 2B

Colfax 48, Northwest Christian 47: The Bulldogs (7-1, 4-1) made a bucket with four seconds left and held on to beat the host Crusaders (6-1, 3-1). Amelie Bruya scored 12 points and Amara Huber and Taylor Larsen added 10 apiece for Colfax. Chanel Knight had 13 points for Northwest Christian.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 52, Springdale 38: Brooke Pichette scored 13 points and Dalyn Killian added 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Broncos (2-3, 2-2) took control in the third quarter and beat the visiting Chargers (3-4, 1-3). Lind-Ritzville/Sprague outscored Springdale 18-7 in the third quarter and led by 19 heading into the fourth. Taylor Smith had 11 points for the Chargers.

Reardan 64, St. George’s 23: Chantel Heath had 16 points, seven steals and seven assists as the Indians (6-1, 4-0) dumped the visiting Dragons (3-5, 2-2). Katy Burge had 14 points and Kelsey Moos chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds for Reardan, which led 22-4 after the first quarter.

Alex Wert posted a team-high 12 points for St. George’s.

Davenport 63, Liberty 30: Chrissy Hannemann scored 15 points, Morgan Abbott had 14 and Mikalia Goerig added 13 as the Gorillas (2-6, 1-3) routed the host Lancers (1-6, 0-4).

Maggie Nelson and Katie Stern scored seven points apiece for Liberty, which committed 20 turnovers.

Northeast 1B North

Curlew 55, Northport 42: Haleigh Gibson made six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points as the Cougars (3-5, 1-2) surged late and beat a short-handed Mustangs (2-6, 0-5) team in Curlew.

Three Northport players fouled out late in the fourth, forcing the Mustangs to play with just four. Kassie Guglielmino had 19 points and Kathy Higgins added 12 for Northport.

Republic 51, Inchelium 28: The Tigers (6-1, 3-1) built a comfortable first-half lead with five 3-pointers and went on to beat the host Hornets (2-3, 2-2). Savannah Bowe scored 15 points and Sierra McQuay added 10 for Republic, which led 30-14 at the half.

Maraia Zacherle had eight points and 17 rebounds for Inchelium.

Southeast 1B

St. John-Endicott 50, Rosalia 23: The Eagles (4-1, 4-0) outscored the Spartans (4-1, 2-1) 19-0 in the second quarter and cruised to the easy win. Devan Bafus had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals and Gretchen Van Lith added seven points, six assists and five rebounds for St. John-Endicott, which held a 35-17 advantage in rebounds.

Touchet 45, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 26: The Indians (2-2, 2-2) gained control in the first half and cruised past the host Tigercats (0-5, 0-4).

Tekoa-Oakesdale 60, Liberty Christian 39: Courtenay Perry and Alexandria Overton scored 11 points apiece to lead the Nighthawks (5-0, 2-0) to a win at Liberty Christian (1-2, 1-2).

Colton 81, Pomeroy 12: Jenna Moser scored 19 points and Paige Vincent added 16 as the Wildcats (4-0, 3-0) beat the host Pirates (0-4, 0-4).

North Star

Clark Fork 36, Kootenai 35: Mariah Miller scored 13 points and Annie Wurm added 10 as the Wampus Cats (3-5, 1-1) edged the Warriors (1-10, 0-1) in Harrison. Kootenai missed a couple of opportunities late in the game that would have given the Warriors the lead. Katey Mae McInturff had 10 points and nine rebounds for Kootenai.
