Winter storm moving through Southwest, Rockies

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A winter snowstorm is moving through the Rocky Mountain region as many get ready to begin their holiday travels.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 3 to 8 inches of snow in southern Utah and northern Arizona on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 6 to 8 inches of snow in some parts of Colorado. Mountains in the three states will get more snow.

The storm could cause travel delays on major highways in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.

National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Hudson said eastern Colorado will see high winds that could cause blizzard conditions and zero visibility.

Hudson said Denver International Airport could see delays starting Tuesday afternoon. The Salt Lake City International Airport is not expecting delays.
