Obituary: Devenere, Annie M.

Age 94

DEVENERE, Annie M. (Age 94) Passed away December 16, 2012 in Spokane Valley, WA.

She was born August 9, 1918 in Northport, WA to Charles and Maria Moore.

Annie married the love of her life, Michael Devenere, on February 21, 1942 in Spokane.

They owned and operated Michael’s Fine Foods from 1946 until 1960.

During her younger years, Annie enjoyed cake decorating, babysat the neighborhood kids and also fostered children.

Together Michael and Annie adopted and raised four children.

She was a member of the Italian American Club and participated in area Senior Centers, playing cards and dancing with Michael there.

At age 52, she went to school at Spokane Community College, graduating with an LPN degree.

She worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center for 10 years before retiring.

She volunteered for diabetic screenings, Bloomsday and provided coffee at truck stops for various organizations.

Annie was famous for always wearing a hat and had a large collection.

She loved to travel and also enjoyed spending time with family, especially getting together for large Italian dinners.

Annie is survived by her children, Michael J. Devenere of Spokane, Michelle (Michael) Albrecht of Newman Lake, WA, Mary (Jack) Holmes of Spokane Valley; her daughter-in-law, Wendy Devenere of Coeur d’Alene, ID; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; son, August Devenere; husband, Michael Devenere; her parents and two brothers.

A Funeral Service and Reception will be held Thursday, December 20th, at 2:00 PM at the funeral home chapel.
