RANDALL, Hubert F. “Hubie” Born May 27, 1928 Died December 15, 2012 Hubie was preceded in death by his wife Colleen, his daughter Patti, and his seven siblings. Hubie is survived by his two sons, Mike, (Becky), Jim (Maggie), Darrel Sotka (son-in-law); ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Hubie was a resident of Spokane his entire life. He managed Kim Hotstart which began in Spokane in 1942, developing the company from a fledgling company in 1957 to a nationally recognized and respected manufacturing company. He retired as CEO from Kim Hotstart in 1990. He was a founding member of Inland Northwest Bank, and served on their board for many years. He was a respected member of many Spokane business organizations throughout his career. He was also a founding member of St. Thomas More church. Hubie was very generous to many charitable organizations here and outside Spokane. He established the Colleen Randall memorial endowment for the Gonzaga women’s golf team and was among the initial donors to the GU baseball facility. Hubie was a member of the Spokane Country Club from 1963 to today and also served on their board. He and his wife Colleen enjoyed many years of golf here in Spokane and on the Oregon Coast where he had a second residence. Hubie especially enjoyed his time with family and friends at Bayview on Pend Orielle lake where he had a boat or residence from the late 1950s until 2005. He loved his cruises back down the lake after dinner singing songs and laughing with his friends and family. The lake and Salishan, Oregon brought many years of enjoyment and beauty to his life. Hubie was a people person and people were the most important thing to him. Everyone who has had the privilege to spend some time with Hubie walked away with some advice or comment that touched them and made them a better person. One of Hubie’s best sayings is “Success in life only happens when you have made life better for the people you touch.” In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Hospice of Spokane, St. Thomas More School, or any charity of your choice. A Vigil service will be held on Thursday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
