Obituary: Little, Doris V.
Age 91
She was born Doris Vivian Cryderman on February 4, 1921 in Post Falls, Idaho.
She was raised in the Liberty Park / Grant School area of the lower South Hill of Spokane by her grandmother and uncle.
She graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1939.
Doris died possibly of a broken heart after the loss of her husband of 70 years, Morris Little just a few months ago.
Doris met Morris on a blind date in 1941 and she married him on April 18, 1942 —— forever to become the “Do” of “Moe & Do”.
The young couple moved briefly to Wishram, WA, where Morris worked for the Great Northern Railroad.
Doris “fondly” remembered her time in Wishram competing for space with the Black Widow spiders and rattlesnakes.
After moving back to Spokane, Doris worked several part time jobs during the late 40s and early 50s in order to help support her growing family.
Those jobs included working for the Fox and Post St.
Theaters downtown, as well as Decker’s Pharmacy on East Sprague.
In 1955, Moe and Do acquired Watt’s Wheel Service, an automotive machine shop, where Morris had worked for several years.
Doris then became the part time bookkeeper and receptionist for the business, a position she worked at diligently until she was 80 years old.
Doris was an avid bowler, golfer, and dancer throughout her life and was able to keep up with her very high energy husband until just the last four or five years.
They belonged to and were active at one time or another in most of the fraternal clubs in Spokane, and in many of the dance clubs.
Doris also shared her husband’s love of old cars and they participated in Early Ford V-8 Car Club events until very recently.
The couple owned a cabin at Newman Lake and spent many happy summers out there with their kids and grandkids.
Moe and Do was an inseparable couple who lived life to its fullest.
They were admired by all who came in contact with them, probably due to the love and dedication they had for each other.
Doris often said “my parents never wanted me, but Moe always wanted me”.
She, in turn, made sure that her children and grandchildren, as well as her husband, were the center focus of her life.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Morris, her parents, and the grandmother and uncle who raised her.
She is survived by a half-sister (Patti); and by her three children, Ron (wife Grace), Chuck (wife Judy) and daughter Nancy.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 28th at 3:30pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.
Private interment will follow at a later date.
