Avista warns of employee imposters

From staff reports
Avista issued an alert today warning area residents of people prowling around Spokane homes and claiming to be Avista employees when confronted. Avista employees always wear or have in their possession a photo identification badge. A resident can ask to see the badge, and if the person claiming to be an employee can’t produce the badge but tries to enter the home, the resident should call authorities. Employees usually wear a lime-green, reflective safety vest and a sweatshirt, long-sleeve shirt or t-shirt underneath. The clothing will have an Avista logo plainly displayed. They don’t typically need access in a resident’s home unless that resident has contracted the company directly about a specific problem. Anyone doubting someone is an Avista employee can call Avista at 800-227-9187 to verify their identity.
