Fans to join Beyonce on Super Bowl field

From Wire Reports

All the single ladies – and fellas – will have a chance to join Beyonce on the field at the Super Bowl.

Pepsi announced Friday that 100 fans will introduce the Grammy-winning diva when she takes the stage Feb. 3 at New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome. A contest that kicks off today will allow fans to submit photos of themselves in various poses, including head bopping, feet tapping and hip shaking. Those pictures will be used in a TV ad to air ahead of Beyonce’s halftime performance, and 50 of those who submit photos – along with a friend – will be selected to introduce the singer.

Details are at www.pepsi.com/halftime. The contest ends Jan. 19, but Jan. 11 is the cutoff date for those interested in introducing Beyonce.

Spears unlikely for one more season

Just days after the second season finale of “The X Factor” comes word that Britney Spears – the pop singer hired to bring ratings sizzle to Simon Cowell’s TV singing extravaganza – is getting the heave-ho as a judge after just one season.

According to Us Weekly, Cowell is close to canning Spears because he doesn’t feel she’s earned her $15 million paycheck. “He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney,” Us Weekly quoted an unnamed insider as saying.

Indeed, pre-“X Factor,” Spears got attention for such off-hours antics as shaving her head and driving with her baby on her lap. But many critics feel she’s been a bland presence on the show, repeatedly murmuring, “Amazing,” when asked her opinion of acts.

At the moment, only Cowell and fellow judge Demi Lovato are poised to return next fall. L.A. Reid already announced his intention to depart “The X Factor” and refocus on his duties as a music executive.
