Axe-wielding man robs woman early Sunday morning

Spokane Police officers Sunday morning said a woman was treated for injuries after saying she was attacked in an alley by a man with an axe. The attack was reported in the area near First and Crestline in East Central Spokane. She told police the man approached her in an alley and demanded money. She said he was not someone she knew. A police report said only that the man wielded an axe and that he “did make contact with the victim.” Police arrived within minutes and used a police K9 but were unable to locate the attacker. A police report said the victim was treated at a Spokane hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The release did not disclose what amount was taken from the woman, nor did it explain the type of injuries.
