Obituary: Backer, Elizabeth

Age 93

BACKER, Elizabeth (Age 93) Elizabeth Backer passed away on December 28, 2012 with her son at her side.

She was a proud and strong Butte, Montana native, and lived there until the passing of her husband, Ruben.

She is survived by her son Ron and daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren: Bill, Jennifer, and Heather and their spouses; great grandchildren: Alex, Blake, Cody, Taylor, Gavin, Logan, and Laney; Brother-in-law Walt and his wife Florence; sister-in-law Dorothy and her daughter Linda; and niece Diane and her husband Jim.

She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much, as well as the rest of the family.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Babe, Breen, Harvey, and Howard.

Elizabeth was a very active lady, and enjoyed bowling, card games, fishing and camping, and riding snow mobiles in her younger years.

After her husband died and she moved to Spokane, she resided in assisted living, and was very happy to be able to interact with the residents and was always involved in all the activities that were available.

Special thanks to the caregivers at Park Place — they were a very important part of her life, and she loved to share stories with them, much like family members would do.

We cannot thank them all enough.

In her final days, the care provided by the comfort group at Sacred Heart and the Spokane Hospice House has been very important.

We will miss you MOM!
