Obituary: Farrell, Richard Donald “R.D.”

Age 89

FARRELL, Richard Donald “R.D.”

Was born November 2, 1923 and was a native of San Francisco, California.

He went to school and grew up in the Bay area, and served in WW II in the Army Air Corps in his early twenties.

When he returned to California, he met and married Jeanne Lois (Heiden) and they remained married (59 years) until his passing December 23, 2012.

As a young man, he developed his love for sports which included fishing, hunting and golf.

and Jeanne moved from Chico, California to Spokane, Washington in 1957 and was employed with the San Francisco based insurance company, Brown Brother Adjusters, until his retirement in the late 1970s.

Living in Spokane, R.D.

was able to enjoy his fishing and hunting in the winter months with golfing in spring and summer.

He was a longtime member of the Manito Golf and Country Club and maintained a single digit handicap even in his later years.

He had an outstanding amateur golf career in the Spokane area and enjoyed competing against the younger players.

In later years, R.D.

‘s passion for sports continued to include any collegiate or professional team on which he could place a wager.

He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne of 59 years; sons Richard Farrell and wife Valerie, Mark Farrell and daughters Alyssa and Emilie; daughter Linda Farrell and sons, Jesse and Jason Cole and great-grandson, Richard Cole.
