Obituary: Jenne, Frank Ivan “Ike”

Age 85

JENNE, Frank Ivan “Ike” A lifelong resident of Chewelah, Washington passed away at his home on Christmas morning at the age of 85.

He was born October 31, 1927 at the family home on King Street.

The son of Everett Jenne and Hazel (Smith) Jenne, he was the youngest of five children.

Born into a hard-working family during the depression, Ike spent much of his time helping in the family-run creamery business.

The Jenne’s always had an over-sized, very productive vegetable garden with enough surplus to sell the extras on the streets of Chewelah.

Ike graduated from Jenkins High School in 1945 and attended Washington State College (WSU).

He also served in the United States Army.

After returning from the service, he worked at the family-owned business, Jenne’s Kold Storage.

He married Cleda Keys in 1954 and together they had two daughters, Fran and Lorraine.

They were a very close family sharing both work and play, interacting daily throughout the years.

Ike and Cleda owned and operated the Kold Storage until its sale in 1972.

He began his mini storage business here in Chewelah over 35 years ago, and continued to operate this business until his very last days here.

Ike was a humble man with an honest and generous heart, and a warm, friendly smile.

He enjoyed family, friends, good food, music and dancing, animals, and the simple things in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hazel Jenne; his wife, Cleda; brother, Leslie E. Jenne, and sister, Shirley Girnus.

Ike is survived by his daughters, Fran Jenne-Robbins and husband Terry, Lorraine Schanzenbach and husband Bill; grandchildren, Jessica Fogle, Evan Schanzenbach, Brooke Jenne Rapet and husband Paul; great-grandchild, Baby Girl Rapet (on her way); brother, Glenn Jenne; sister, Marguerite Wise; sister-in-law, Marjorie Jenne, and wonderful companion and special friend - Millie Wilbur.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

There will be a private family interment.

A gathering to celebrate Ike’s life will be held at a later date.

Any random act of kindness towards people or animals would be a wonderful tribute to Ike.
