Obituary: Solberg, Delores “Dee” J.

SOLBERG, Delores J.

“Dee” (Age 76) Passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 after a valiant long-term battle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born to Adolph and Inga Holm in Ellensburg, WA.

The family later moved to Toppenish, WA where she graduated from high school.

Her best friend, Joanne, introduced her to the love of her life.

Dee and Dick married in 1955 and spent the next 56 years together, grateful for their continued friendship with Joanne.

Dee’s efforts to attend nursing school were put off when she became a mother.

Dick’s work took their family from Yakima to Kennewick and then to Spokane around 1965.

While raising their four children, she worked for JCPenney and later for Safeco Insurance.

She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and loved singing in the choir.

She developed a passion for quilting; producing countless masterpieces shared with family, friends and the Church.

She was a loving, caring Mother and friend who will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick, and her firstborn son, Rich.

She will also be missed by her sons, Jeff and Steve (Kim) Solberg, and daughter, Kathy Solberg.

She loved her grandchildren, Ryan (Staci) Solberg, Kelsey (Chris) Lewis, and Luke Solberg.

She and Dick spent many years raising Ryan as their own.

Her great-grandchild, Sam Solberg, holds a special place in her heart.

The family thanks the staff at Sullivan Park Care Center for their compassionate care for Mom.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or to S.C.R.A.P.S., www.spokanecounty.org/scraps/.
