Separate Sunday I-84 fatal crash claims life of N. Idaho man
Victim was 69-year-old Freeman Thomason
A 69-year-old Post Falls man died early Sunday in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 in Eastern Oregon.
OregonState Police troopers said Freeman G. Thomason died at the scene, about 23 miles west of Pendleton near Stanfield. Thomason was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Timothy Hancock, age 26, of Hermiston.
Police reports say Thomason was wearing a safety restraint when the accident happened around 6:45 a.m.

OregonState Police troopers said Freeman G. Thomason died at the scene, about 23 miles west of Pendleton near Stanfield. Thomason was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Timothy Hancock, age 26, of Hermiston.
Police reports say Thomason was wearing a safety restraint when the accident happened around 6:45 a.m.
Hancock was driving eastbound on I-84 in the left lane when he lost control on an icy section of roadway. The pickup traveled into the center median and rolled before coming to rest on its top.
Hancock received non life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Hermiston hospital.
The accident happened about four hours before the fatal charter bus accident on I-84 about 35 miles further east on the same highway. Icy road conditions were a key factor in both accidents, troopers say.
