In brief: Man found dead from gunshot

Spokane police are investigating a homicide that took place inside a residence in north Spokane around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers found a man, said to be in his mid-20s, dead from a gunshot wound inside a house near Spofford Avenue and Wall Street, near North Central High School.

Officers questioned three people who were at the house at the time of the shooting. Police provided no information about a possible suspect.

The victim has not been identified.

Woman robbed by ax-wielding man

A woman was treated for injuries after she was robbed in an alley by a man with an ax Sunday morning, according to a Spokane Police Department news release. The release did not disclose the extent of her injuries.

The attack was reported shortly after 5 a.m. in the area near First Avenue and Crestline Street, in East Central Spokane.

The victim told police a stranger approached her in an alley and demanded money.

Police arrived within minutes and used a police K-9 but were unable to locate the attacker.

A police report said the victim was treated at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The release did not disclose the amount of money taken.

Family injured in rollover crash

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. – Four Quincy residents were transported to Central Washington Hospital Saturday evening after their SUV overturned on Highway 28, eight miles east of East Wenatchee.

Roberto Barajas Estrada, 44, the driver, apparently lost control of the 2000 Chevy Tahoe while trying to pass another eastbound vehicle, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The vehicle went off the highway, rolled over and came to rest in a ditch.

Transported by ambulance to the hospital were Barajas Estrada; Ester Barajas, 43; Roberto Barajas, 17; and Genecis Barajas, 19.
