Obituary: Bennett, James Shannon

Age 39

BENNETT,
James
Shannon
(Age 39)

James Shannon Bennett went home peacefully to be with the Lord after a battle with brain cancer on January 29, 2012 in Spokane, WA.

He was surrounded by his wife and best friend, Heather J. Bennett, and two “miracle” children Jake, 8, and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennett, 7.

Born to James E. and Anita Bennett on September 9, 1972 in Marks, MS, he came into the world with a love for adventure.

At the age of 5 years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia and treated at St. Jude Hospital, but he survived leukemia and lived life to the fullest: rafting rivers, climbing 14ers, snowboarding, and exploring God’s beautiful wonders from the Appalachian Mountains to the Rocky Mountains.

He taught his family and friends where true strength and courage originates - Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.

The family would like to thank Southside Christian Church for their love, family and friends who gave generously, and for the compassion displayed by the staffs of Rockwood Clinic, Spokane’s Choice Home Health Care, Hospice of Spokane, Hutton Elementary School, and Greater Spokane Incorporated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Southside Christian Church, located at 2934 E. 27th Avenue, on Thursday, February 2, at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support a college savings plan for Jake and Lizzy.

To donate, contact Kevin Wiley of Edward Jones at (509) 838-2408.

Donations can also be made to the James Bennett Memorial Fund at Numerica Credit Union or to St. Jude Hospital in memory of him.
