Peacefully left this life to visit her Heavenly Father on January 28, 2012.

Helen was born October 20, 1918 to Olaf and Anna Laine in Menahga, Minnesota.

After Menahga High School she worked the Farmer’s Co-Op for six years where she met Walt.

They were married September 27, 1942 in Menahga and resided at the Engel farm in Frazee for four years.

They moved to Morgan, Utah for two years, then relocated to Washington.

Helen was involved with the Girl and Cub Scouts, volunteered for shut-ins, worked as a volunteer for Valley Hospital and Medical Center, and was a member of the Ladybugs Garden Club, Redeemer Hope Circle, and Valley Senior Center.

She worked for the West Valley School Food Service for 23 years.

In 2003 she moved into Holman Gardens Retirement Home where she enjoyed her friends and activities.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for over 60 years.

She loved her family, friends, flowers and traveling.

She was preceded in death by Walt, her husband, in 1990.

Helen is survived by her three children and their spouses, Ed Engel and wife Bonnie, Cheryl Hull and husband John, and Myra Denison and husband Don.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tom and Sue Engel; Mark, Jason, and Chad Hull; Eric and Walt Denison and Donna Bates.

Included as survivors are her beloved 11 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Aiden, Cody, Lexie, and Lacie Hull; Alyssa, Audrey, Joshua, and Madalyn Denison; Riley Bates and Michaela Lindley; Christopher Lindley is her only great-great-grand- child.

Also surviving Helen is her brother-in-law, Ralph Engel and wife Joan, along with three nieces and two nephews.

She was truly loved and will be missed by many, both young and old.

A memorial, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Lilac City Blind Foundation in Helen’s name.

A family burial is planned at Pines Cemetery.

The celebration of her life will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00AM with a luncheon to follow.
