History repeating itself?

History has a tendency to repeat itself in different ways. Take, for example, 1929 and 2013. In 1928, Herbert Hoover was elected president. He was an engineer and a businessman who believed the government and the economy were fraught with inefficiency and waste. Mitt Romney is a businessman who feels the same way today. Both viewpoints are true, but neither has a solution, so we are about to repeat history.

Tent cities, also known as shanty towns in developing nations, are in places with an unequal distribution of wealth. In the 1930s, there were “Hoovervilles” named after the president. We already have Occupy Wall Street. What’s next?

It’s curious how the weather seems to play a part. In the 1930s, there was a drought in the central United States, as recently happened again. Also, Hoover was a Quaker, and Romney is a Mormon. The two religions have more similarity than differences.

Is history about to repeat itself? Just wait and see. Time will tell. It always does.
