The Central Valley girls basketball team captured its second Greater Spokane League championship in three years Saturday.
The No. 1-ranked Bears put four players in double-figure scoring to coast past the Ferris Saxons 71-50 at Wayne Gilman Court.
CV (17-1 overall, 15-1 league) scored the final seven points in the first quarter for an 18-9 lead, and the Bears continued to roll.
Brooke Gallaway led CV with 16 points, Katie Estey had 15, Madison Hovren had 14 and Sydney Emory had 10. Hovren also had 11 rebounds.
CV forced 25 turnovers.
Brittney Johnson led Ferris (6-12, 4-12) with 16 points, three steals and three assists.
Mead 56, Gonzaga Prep 48: The Bullpups (13-5, 11-5) owned the first half, but the visiting Panthers (10-8, 10-6) owned the second when it counted most. The Panthers outscored G-Prep 34-19 in the final two quarters.
Delany Junkermier led Mead with 18 points, Jasmine Parker had 13 and Jade Redmon added 10. Otiona Gildon led G-Prep with 12 and Lindsay Stockton and Megan Steilen each had 10.
University 55, North Central 49: The Titans’ Kayleigh Valley hurt the Indians (4-14, 4-12) inside and outside.
Valley finished with a game-high 24 points. She also had 13 rebounds. Hallie Gennett added 15 for U-Hi (13-5, 11-5). Hailey Markham-Patti led NC with 15 points and Kalen Via had 11.
