WSU sorority gets slapped with harshest sanctions

PULLMAN – Washington State University’s conduct board has sanctioned the Pi Beta Phi sorority after finding the organization responsible for hazing and underage drinking.

Dean of Students Melynda Huskey said that means the sorority will lose its university recognition and support. As a group, the sorority would not be able to use campus facilities or take part in university-related events.

Pi Beta Phi was informed Friday of the sanctions, the most serious the conduct board can impose. The sorority has 21 days to appeal to a university board.

Calls to the sorority Saturday were not immediately returned.

The sanctions will last until June 2014.
