Gonzaga Prep boys have 20 assists in victory

The Gonzaga Prep boys basketball team shared the ball on the final night of the Greater Spokane League regular season Thursday.

The Bullpups finished with 20 assists as Gonzaga Prep cruised past the visiting North Central Indians 67-31.

G-Prep (14-6 overall, 14-4 league) opens the District 8 4A tournament Tuesday against visiting Ferris (14-6) at 7:15.

Ryan Gregory led the Bullpups with 20 points and eight rebounds and TJ Bracey had 11 points and five assists. Chase McDuffie had 12 points for NC (3-17, 3-15).

Central Valley 61, Mead 42: The visiting Bears (17-3, 16-2) started quickly in both halves to finish league play on a strong note.

The Bears made 8 of 17 3-pointers and shot 23 of 45 overall from the field. Dustin Dach led balanced CV with 17 points and Gaven Deyarmin had 12.

Forrest Baker led Mead (4-16, 4-14) with 17 points and Gunnar Kayser had 15.

Shadle Park 69, Mt. Spokane 63: Four players reached double-figure scoring for the Highlanders (12-8, 10-9) , who opened a 38-25 lead in the first half against the visiting Wildcats (4-16, 3-15).

Nick Bettinson led Shadle with 20 points, Brett Boese had 15 and Kionte Brown and Drew Before had 10 each. Stu Stiles led Mt. Spokane with 21 and Riley Drumheller had 15.

Mt. Spokane will face NC in a playoff Saturday to determine the third and final seed to the District 8 3A tournament. The winner will go to Shadle on Tuesday in a loser-out game at 7:15.

University 80, Rogers 59: The Titans (16-4, 14-4) tuned up nicely for the postseason, cruising past the Pirates (5-14, 5-13) at Rogers.

Four players reached double figures for U-Hi. Zech Martin led with 18 points, Brett Bailey had 16, Conner Johnson 12 and Jared Miller 10. Aaron Highbarger led Rogers with 21.

U-Hi has a first-night bye and will play host to the title game on Thursday.

Great Northern

Pullman 59, West Valley 43: The Greyhounds (18-2, 11-1) got out of the gate quickly and in so doing locked up the league championship against the visiting Eagles (18-2, 10-2).

The Greyhounds outscored WV 13-3 in the first period.

Brady Barrett led Pullman with 15 points and three assists. Corey Langerveld had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals and Austin Drake had 14 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Gassman led WV with 14 points and Jake Love had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Cheney 83, Deer Park 60: The Blackhawks (11-9, 6-6) started fast, opening a 24-12 lead, and they finished strong in the second half in a big win over the visiting Stags (8-12, 4-8).

Eric Igbinoba led Cheney with 29 points, CJ Skillingstad had 18 and Tanner Gamby chipped in 10. Uconn Peone had 30 for the Stags.

Clarkston 65, East Valley 50: The Bantams (12-8, 6-6) made 8 of 17 3-pointers to cruise past the host Knights (7-13, 1-11).

Clarkston charged to a 29-18 lead at halftime and extended the lead by outscoring EV 22-12 in the third.

Drew Adams scored 22 points and had seven rebounds to lead Clarkston. Nathan Whittaker had 13 points. James Brown led EV with 16.

District 7 2B

Liberty 65, Republic 38: The Lancers (8-13) overwhelmed the visiting Tigers (3-17) in a loser-out game. Dylan Salsbury led Liberty with 33 points and 12 rebounds and Match Burnham had 13 points. Saxon Brown led the Tigers with 15 points. Liberty takes on Colfax when the tourney moves to Mead on Saturday.

Kettle Falls 40, Springdale 36: Conner McKern had 11 points as the visiting Bulldogs (3-18) eliminated the Chargers (4-17). Kettle Falls moves on to face Reardan on Saturday at Mt. Spokane. Isaiah Wynecoop led Springdale with 15.

District 9 1B

Rosalia 52, Garfield-Palouse 36: The Spartans (12-9) used big first and third quarters to top the visiting Vikings (5-14) in a first-round tournament game. Craig Nelson led Rosalia with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Damian Loucks had 17 points and four steals. Jesse Lopez led Gar-Pal with 13 points and Anthony Floyd added 11.

LaCrosse-Washtucna 53, Pomeroy 42: The Tigercats (7-12) rallied to top the Pirates (9-10) at Pomeroy in a first-round tournament game. Jake Aune led the Tigercats with 22 points and Darcy Stamper had 22. Mitch Ruchert led Pomeroy with 18.

C. Washington 2B

Lake Roosevelt 87, Bridgeport 24: The Raiders (15-4) sprinted past the visiting Mustangs. Four players scored in double figures. Lee Williams had 20 points, Keith Rosenbaum had 18 and Ty Egbert and Jesse Adkins had 12 apiece.

Nonleague

Lake City 72, Sandpoint 40: Sophomore point guard Justin Pratt scored a career-high 25 points to lead the visiting Timberwolves (12-7) past the Bulldogs (7-13). Pratt made five 3-pointers. Jackson Olin led Sandpoint with 20.

Moscow 45, Lewiston 37: The Bears (9-10) outscored the visiting Bengals (7-12) 16-8 in the deciding fourth quarter. Derek Pennington led Moscow with 16 points.
