Geiger inmate escapes

Nathan J. Calvert
An inmate arrested in December after posting a video to his Facebook page showing what police believe are stolen items escaped today from the Geiger Corrections Center. Nathan J. Calvert, 28, was serving time at the corrections center for multiple felony charges when he went missing about 3:30 p.m. today, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release. He had been working in the kitchen area when staff realized he was not in his assigned area. The facility was immediately placed on lock down as staff searched for Calvert, the news release said. Calvert is 5-foot-8, 135 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a tan jumpsuit, but may have had other clothing on underneath. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who was in the area of the facility around the time he went missing and thinks they may have seen someone matching his description to call 911. He was in jail on charges of residential burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, vehicle prowling and three counts of second-degree theft. Police say he was prowling at least 30 cars a night throughout Spokane County before he was arrested in December. At the time of his arrest, police say he had a stolen Jeep full of about 100 items of stolen property – which appeared to be the same Jeep and items in the video on his Facebook page.
